Hi Puffin and welcome. Many of us are new here but this is a great forum with lots of friendly and knowledgeable people so I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hello Puffin & welcome!
You know that's something I've always wanted to see! I went on a boat trip on skye and was told that I might see a puffin but they hid themselves that day!! One day!
Anyway! As squirrel says, it's a great forum with lots of new members and plenty of friendly & knowledgeable people on hand with advice & help! Enjoy!

Hi Marjus
Thanks for the friendly welcome. Likewise I had always wanted to see Puffins, so this years must do, was to get across to the Farne Islands, picked a glorious day and took nearly 600 photos, the joys of digital, needless to say fell in love with these delighful little birds, I would definetely recommend a day out there next year when they are back to breed.
Hi Puffin,
Welcome, I am so jealous of you seeing the Puffins, they are one of my favourites but I have never seen one.

Wow! 600 photos! You sounds just like me! :-) I love digital! Had to always be so careful with film! Digital is care free and there's nothing better than being able to see your shot there & then and improve on it if needed!!
The Farnes are high up on my list of places to go! It's just finding the time to fit all these trips in! My holidays tend to be either to Scotland or Cornwall! Both places I love! Might see if a long weekend would be feasible next year!
Mull is already in the planning for next year as been wanting to go there for some time now!
Welcome to the community. I hope that you will find your stay enjoyable and informative.

If you are ever in the Yorkshire region the RSPB reserve at Bempton cliffs is well worth a visit you will be sure to see Puffins and also the great diver the Gannet.

Dream it, Crave it, Work for it, Live it.
Thanks Graham , just looking at your note to Marjus, when is the best time of year to see the Gannet at Bempton.
Gary
Ah yes now that's not quite so far to go! Perhaps that will be better for a long weekend! Thanks Graham!

Hi Puffin. Don't bank on the Puffins - they have been noticeably absent on my last few visits. The Gannets are present in huge numbers when breeding and June - August is well worth a visit

Hi,
As Old Bill said you could be a bit late for the Puffin they tend to be there late spring to early summer. The Gannets will still be there. See the RSPB main site for more info in the section about reserves.
