Old Days

Hi to all Osprey Worshiipers,

It is over 30 thirty years since I was last at Loch Garten at a Volunteer. It was in March and we had yo berek the ice in the water barrels to get washed. Digging latrines, mending duckboards and generally having fun. It was great and far less serious then the recession filled days of today. Is there any other oldies out there

  •  Sounds great to me. Nothing better for me than wild camping and birding. Although I have to say as I quickly approach 50 a hot shower when camping, does appeal these days -  at least once a week lol.

All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

  • Hi Soosin,

Many thanks for the reply. you are luckly you approach 50, as I am on the other side of it. I have to say work keeps me away more than it should from my favourite hobby. I was away fronm birdwatching for many years, and have noyl got interested in the last year. I have left my twitching days behind, when back in the old days I would sleep on the beach in winter wating to see an Ross`s Gull or and Ivory Gull. I just enjoy the basics of Birdwatcing now looking at all the common birds.

Mr great passion is Birds of Prey and no more so than Ospreys. It is strange when I look back at all the hard work in the 70`s in Loch Garten, then hark back to 1994 follwing the Iridh Team in Orlando in the World Cup. Just outside the ground there was four pays nesting in the street lights. Funny thing Birdwatching.

Hopw the Garten site lives on for many years as It is soul inspring.
