Hello,
I'm new here :-)
For the first time in my life I've seen a red legged Partridge and they've been running around our road and park for about two months now by themselves. We have a field behind our road and there are some field further over to the left behind some allotments so I think they may have come from there and become lost. They've visited my neighbours garden a few times now. I feel worried that the little partridge is lost? I've heard that apparently there are two families of six in the fields. This one is all alone though.
Any advice welcome. Would be happy to go on a partridge rescue mission!
I'm not sure if this is relevant in your area, but where I live at this time of the year there's lots of shooting taking place around the fields and red-legged partridges have come into my garden and even sheltered underneath my parked car during the shooting, so I wonder if that might be a reason. Otherwise, I shouldn't worry, they're probably not lost just exploring, as the fields at this time of year might not offer as much food as at other times of the year
