We have Blue Tits nesting in our garden hose reel. It's a boxed in type. We noticed the parents coming back with grubs so assumed they had hatched. We haven't seen the parents at all since yesterday and that was only once. There sounds like there is a chick inside. I think it has fallen to the bottom of the hose reel and is stuck.
What shall I do? I'm thinking of taking the reel apart and seeing if I can save the chick.
As distressing as this situation is you shouldn't do anything to interfere with this nest other than keep watch from a distance to see if parents return, likely to be more than one chick or unhatched eggs and it needs a parent to tend to the nest ... you could contact this organisation for expert advice and help in your area

The parents have gone. Not even been seen in the garden. Totally disappeared.
Have you had any luck contacting a wildlife rescue centre? It would be extremely difficult to try to rear a nestling, doubt any one would take it on, these youngsters really do need a parent bird to stand any chance of surviving in the wild!
