Hi, i've just joined, as I've spotted a black redstart in my garden in Aberdeenshire.
Quite shocked to see this, especially up here.
Very excited, and I hope it sticks around.
What a fabulous sighting to have in your garden and hope it stays around for a while; get your camera ready !

i've tried taking a few pictures already, but they haven't come out very well.It doesn't tend to sit still long enough for me to get a good focus on it.
Definitely worth posting what you have taken, esp as the elusiveness isn't really a black redstart trait.
Sure, sorry for the poor quality.
Nothing wrong with that photo at all which shows the black redstart clearly, a very nice bird to see in your garden, nice find !
I'm very happy to see it, but quite concerned some of the neighbourhood cats will nab it.So in some ways I'd be quite happy to see it go.
As Hazy said, nothing wrong with that photo. How I'd expect a black redstart photo to look in a garden.
