Hi - I have had a Great Tit - believe it's male - in my nesting box since the beginning of December. He leaves and returns every evening and has been great watching him on my camera. There is no sign of nest building or a "friend". This is all new to me and just wondering when I may expect anything else to happen or is he a "loner". Thanks for any info anyone can offer.
Hi Carol, it's the female who builds the nest and incubates the eggs, still a little early but he needs to find a mate soon!

Thanks Wendy - hopefully he will find a friend soon!
Do let us know if you see a successful nest this season?
Will do.
He's still returning every night but remains alone.....
Poor chap, maybe he prefers to be alone! Still not too late
GT has finally left home it seems, not been back for a week and never found a friend having been here for over 7 months. Hopefully he may return in the future.
Thanks for the update Carol ... it's possible some bird may be back to roost over Winter ... you have a nesting pair next season
Hi - thought I would update that GT returned again at the end of September and has been here every night since, leaving early morning and returning each evening. Super excited in hoping he will find a friend this spring and have a family. I am sure it is the same GT as last year, when he arrives he acts in exactly the same way and always nestles in the same corner of the box as he did last year. Keeping everything crossed for a family this year! This is him arriving tonight, always around 4pm at the moment.
How exciting for you, Carol. he will be roosting in this cold weather in your box. Hopefully, he will find a nice young lady friend and that you will have an active nest to watch in the spring. Keep us updated?
