Bird ID please

Certainly sounds like wrens in both description and behaviour. The particularly cold recent nights will have been a reason.

I read that "In the winter months and especially in very cold weather, Wrens will roost together in enclosed spaces and there may be several dozen birds squashed together to keep warm."

Thankyou for your replies I I did sit close by to watch and they were not bothered so must be wrens then

Hello, I have a swallows nest that was built this year in the overhang of the front porch, the wrens have found it and at last count there were 5 huddled together.
