Pigeon

A pigeon appeared yesterday on my driveway. Very tame he/she actually followed me into my kitchen.
He didn’t want to leave I gently brushed him out and then I didn’t realise he was in my garage all night!

When I opened it he walked out I gave him seeds and water and he is sitting outside my back door??

He doesn’t seem frightened of my cat either.
What is going on?

He’s cream and fawn coloured and no rings seen.

Hi Lisbeth, welcome to the forum ... your lovely bird looks like one of the breeds of 'fancy pigeon' that could be someone's pet and has escaped ... maybe you could check on social media to see if anyone has lost one but it could also have been deliberately set free!

Hi Lisbeth, it looks like it could be a juvenile. I'd try to keep it away from your cat. That probably won't end well if the cat should go for it. I assume the pidge can fly? Will it allow you to pick it up?
Whereabouts are you located?

I’m in the north of Glasgow.
I’ve only seen it fly up to about 4ft to a shelf in my garage.
I’ve been away out for hours and when I came home he ran straight over to me.
He’s sitting at my back door now.
Yes I won’t let my cat near him.

Check www.helpwildlife.co.uk and see if there is a pigeon friendly rescue centre near you. It could well be a pet pigeon rather than a fancy one. Either way, it probably won't do well in the current storm conditions you're having there.
