Can anyone help identify this bird of prey?

  • There's a lot of shadow there snd I'm only using a small screen but it looks like a Sparrowhawk to me. Most raptors, birds of prey, that visit our gardens turn out to be Sparrowhawks but occasionally people get lucky and something different turns up

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • I agree with Pete that it's a female Sparrowhawk. It looks like it's taken down a feral pigeon which is quite a substantial meal.
