we have nuthatches nesting in a box I put up last year. FAsanating watching them putting mud round inside of the entrance.
On another tree very close we have bluetits. It’s lovely. Can’t stop standing watching them.

I doubt very much that a Nuthatch would kill a young blue tit or any other small bird for that matter; they can occasionally dominate feeders and usually the tits hang back if a Nuthatch is at the feeder waiting for it to leave. The only threat I have seen from a Nuthatch is a warning call as it flies in to feeders and never seen a Nuthatch physically attack another bird sufficient enough to cause injury. Nuthatches eat mostly seeds, insects and nuts as their name would suggest, they would not eat another bird. There have been recordings of Great Tits killing/eating a small bird but as far as I know this is rare. I'm not an expert but to answer your question I would say unlikely. Why do you ask this, have you seen something where you think the bird was a Nuthatch ?

I do like nuthatches, the way they manage to eat upside down, and their cheeky nature, as with this one, taken a couple of years ago, looking at me, and the food tub as if to say, "come on then, get the rest out!"
