Bird Bag

I keep all my gear in a sort of sports bag / hold-all with exterior side and end pockets;  I keep Bins , scope, gloves, spare shirt, notebook, digi-camera, SD cards in a pouch, spare batteries, insect repellant ( NOWHERE NEAR ANY OPTICS!!)  Wasp-eze, Germolene, plasters etc.  Waterproof over trousers live in an end pocket .

Any one else do the same ?

I tend to use a rucksac, about 30 litre capacity, with some gear in it on a more or less permanent basis. As well as optics there is a basic 1st aid kit, field guide, lightweight overtrousers, note book, point and shoot digi camera and,if not wearing a jacket,a lightweight over jacket goes in there as well.If birding away from home ground a selection of O.S.maps goes into the pack as well.Often a multi pocket waistcoat holds a lot of bits and bobs including pipe and tobacco (hangs head in shame !!)Carrying the tripod has caused a few problems in the past but I have had some good hints from forum members so I will be trying them out soon.

    Blimey!

My camera is round my neck. Spare battery, memory card and lense cloth are in a pocket in my very small child's rucksack. The rucksack also contains my pocket sized bins, antiseptic wipes, small field guide, spare car keys, a couple of pens and my cigs and several lighters!  My hat is on my head and my gloves are in my pockets.

    I travel light.

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi-

my birdbag lives in a cupboard under the stairs til I go out.  Then it lives in the car while I'm birding with all my normal gear.

When birding I have my digi cam in a small Lowe-pro cam bag over my shoulder with pockets for extra cards, lens cleaning cloth etc.  That's all I carry-  apart from bins and scope    :)  I do wear a multi pocket vest if the weather isnt too hot-  PLUS it's great for travel days cos it holds passport, wallet, etc.
