Hi Mods,
I gather that as members, if we don't log off and then go to use another website, we still show on the "counter" as using this website.
Is the same true for guests who are just looking in?
Cheers,
Andy
Seriously thinking about trying harder!
The logged in effect is only for 15mins or so usually for registered users, guests normally drop sooner.
On a typical forum, can't be certain here tho
It's both what you do and the way that you do it!

t has been known for forums to "guild the Lilly" by setting the online timeout to several hours (in one case it was 24 hours). This is done so that potential members and advertisers see the site as more active than it really is.
I think that this site is set at a much more realistic level (10-30 Mins), from the last user activity :)
Best regardsNigel

I do know that when you log off, you still show as being logged on for 10 minutes. You can test this yourself by signing out and browsing as a guest - your name will still show as logged on for 10 minutes.
This seems a bit silly, but there you go.
Cheers, Linda.

It clearly does to Jackdaw or he wouldn't have asked the question.
I think I must always show as logged on as I do not log out on my iphone. I still need to log in on my PC and laptop though

obviously... but why?
The last visited list is rubbish too ... my brother accessed the Newport Wetlands forums every day when he had no computer access apparently!

I am always logged in here until I go to bed ..... then I log out
Yes, a user is seen on the listing for a short time after logging off
I am logged on my other forums all of the time so that is how I like it
