Nothing to do with birding but if any forum users have AVG security installed on their computer and if so have they had any problems recently.I keep getting messages that the system needs updating and needs to shut down to do so only to get the message that it was unsuccessful so after a day of this I have uninstalled AVG.Any suggestions you techies out there?
Pete
Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Hi-
I use Bullguard as I found Norton slowed my machine down, and McAfee was too fiddly to use .

Thank's for the help folks having looked around some sites the Microsoft gets good reports so I might download that tomorrow although the Avira I down loaded looks good
Microsoft Security Essentials is not only very effective, it is the least intrusive in terms of hogging computer memory and slowing down your system. I rarely have good views of Microsoft products but for once they have got it right - and it's FREE.

Well I have just signed up for two years of Norton!

I used AVG for a while but got fed up of its effects on the system's performance and switched to Avira. Then while I was away one time recently Mr aiki managed to catch a virus on my PC (I dread to think what sites he was looking at...) and after he'd sorted that out he got rid of Avira and put on Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. It has been great so far.

Looks like Microsoft have got the thumbs up on this,I will download it this afternoon, got to spend the morning at the docs for a glucose tollerance test ugh!!
After all the comments, I've uninstalled McAfee and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. So far so good - it does look to be a lot easier to use and when I did a scan I wouldn't have known, unlike with McAfee that grinds away remorselessly making my internet very slow.
Cheers, Linda.

Even an old dinosaur like me managed to download the Microsoft Security Essentials o.k.and fingers crossed it is doing its work. Thanks for the help/suggestions I am still not sure what went wrong with the AVG set up,as nobody else seems to be having problems it must be something in the system although a deep scan showed nothing.

I use Norton 360 and find it does not slow me down at all.
