take nothing but pictures, and leave only footprints
Hi dov
Like the others have said, please don't beat yourself up about it. These things happen.
My OH was once test driving a car and a pheasant flew out of the hedge right into his bumper. It was a busy road and there was nothing he could have done to avoid it.
Local to me pheasants seem to develop a death wish around roads at a certain time of the year. :-(
Best wishes Chris

I was so busy watching him in my rear view mirror that I came across Mum and her ducklings far too late. I broke hard and skidded to a halt with the tail chaser swerving and braking behind me to avoid crashing into to me. I got out of the car straight away and I think the bloke driving the car behind me was expecting alot of abuse but I was so worried about the duck and the ducklings that I completely ignored him and started checking beneath the car. I can' express to you how I felt at that exact moment but so relieved to find Mum and ducklings were scooted down beneath my car and then waddled off down the road! When I eventually turned to the guy in the car behind me, he just looked at me gobbed smacked as if to say you stopped the car for that!! Hi Kezmo, I can imagine lot's of people stopping in the middle of the road upon seeing a sight like that. :-) Fortunately, humans and birds were all OK. :-) Best wishes Chris Click Here to see my photos

Hi Linda and Chris,
Thanks for your comments.
I know what I did wasn't the safest or the most sensible thing to do a the time given that the driver was close behind me (I could have offered him a mint he was that close) but my actions were completely a natural reaction. After I had checked that Mum and ducklings were okay, I did turn to the guy initially to apologise but then got very defensive when he started to have a go at me.
Regards
Kerry

Aw, I'm sorry. I had a pigeon (a rather lovely one) land right in front of mine and I hit it - I cried:-( So I know you feel badly but sometimes these things cannot be helped, however hard we try:-(
