posting video clips

hi guys, tried to post small video clip from my camera but no go! tried to do it in the same way as a pic from my pc but wouldnt have it! error 403 website declined, something about permission? any ideas, or is it just not possible to post vid clips on forum? thanks for any help. paul.

  • Hi paul

I have seen it done although I've not tried it myself. I think the main problem is the size restriction. As you know photos are restricted to a maximum of 4 Mb (I think) but most people reduce their pics to something much smaller otherwise it takes forever to load. Even small videos can be extremely large.

I think you would do much better to open an account with YouTube, Flickr or one of the other video hosting websites and simply give the link in your post. This is what most people do.

    Regards TJ

  • Hi Paul,

I think TJ has hit the nail on the head. Videos are large files, and rarely under the 4MB maximum. Better to open an account as TJ suggests then post the link.

    Cheers, Linda.

hi sparrow, i might sound stupid, and i am new to all this, but is there a way of putting

pictures onto this site in bulk, as i can only seem to be able to put one at a time, takes forever. best regards mac

    Hi again paul

It's not as bad as you think. It's quite straightforward to sign up with YouTube and it's free. You can upload videos in several formats and their software converts it into FLV format for you.

Flickr is also basically free but there are restrictions on the amount of photos and videos you can upload unless you pay for their PRO version.

Vimeo is another video hosting website which is free subject to certain restrictions.

Mac - to answer your question directed to Sparrow. No, I don't know of a way to upload photos in bulk. I wish there was because it would make life easier. Perhaps when they have installed the new servers upload speeds may improve. Fingers crossed.

    Regards TJ

  • Just to add, if you happen to be a BT Internet customer, Flickr Pro is free, as BT own Yahoo, who own Flickr! ;o)
