Hi-
astute cynical observers might wonder if due to the imminent publication of ID Birds the Seymouraves way ( available at the Bird Fair - not RSPB recommended ) it has been deemed unnecessary.
Also the new RSPB family friendly approach at Reserves negates the need to be competitive and knowledgeable in the ID arena. Birds are part of the wider eco universe and specific naming of species might get away from the holistic fluffy scenario *** and encourage Birding- Twitching was bad enough but is sporadic at most reserves; Birding ability creates a hierarchy and a sense of inferiority which isn't a corporate nicety.
Watch out volunteers- you could be next!
S
*** You should meet the clean cut customer inter-action welcoming teams in RSPB car parks this summer. Easy to spot them- they are the only ones without binoculars :)
For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
seems some people are posting ID queries to Gear Guide-
not a bad idea
:)
Thanks Bob- I couldn't find it via the search box-
BUT IT TAKES OVER A MINUTE TO GET THERE FROM HOME PAGE!
That's why I use search box a lot BUT it doesn't find stuff I KNOW is in here.... cos I posted it :)
Unknown said: Rodney, on the Community home page, click on the WILDLIFE tab on the blue banner going across the page, then click on the Forums tab and you will find it in there. As a shortcut you can just make a shortcut/favourite of any id this post, click on it and then do a new post once that opens. Hope that helps.

Thanks for stepping in Bob. As a note I have passed the search facility and navigation issues on so they will hopefully get looked at by those working on the site development.
