Squish List

Ladies and Gentlemen (and anything inbetween)

We have many posts with issues post upgrade, can we use this thread to collect them, more chance of getting things changed.

My biggest gripe, is the default resolution, the css frame is too large for the content (although very pretty)

Temp work around use the view function of your browser ( crtl and + will work on most desktop/laptops).

Mobile devices have their own way (usually a pinch on the touch screen).

It's both what you do and the way that you do it!

Is anyone else confused as to why the Homes for Wildlife forum, which includes the much used Wildlife in the Garden and Nest Boxes threads, is in the "Get Involved"  group?

I associate "Get Involved" with things such as volunteering and other Get Involved with the RSPB matters. Surely Wildlife in the Garden and Nest Boxes should be in the Wildlife group?

I bet many of us miss things in there. I know I have.

Is it possible to move these over?

I would like someone from the IT BODS to explain that bit of logic, it's got me confused

Totally agree. It's in the wrong Forum Group. It definitely should be under Wildlife.

  • I know this has been said before, but I am repeating it in the hope the Mods will see it.

It is getting more and more frustrating not being able to see who originated a thread.

I keep trying to say Hello to the same newbies over and over again! That is just one example of many.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Terms and Conditions

On the old Community site, there was a link to the T&Cs at the foot of every page.

In the new version, this has disappeared.

I don't think this is desirable - in the interests of "good practice", it's wise to remind people that the T&Cs are part of an "ongoing contract", not something you glance at while registering and then forget about.

  • I can't edit my above post about T&Cs - I get an error saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

    Reporting abuse

I haven't had cause to try it, but the facility seems to exist Ok in Forum posts.

Can I suggest that there should also be a button to report abuse in Blog comments?   This does happen on occasion, and few people would know that the only route for reporting it is via the Contact Us button in the top RH corner of the RSPB main website (but not the Community site).

Also, there does not seem to be a mechanism for reporting abuse in Private Messages. Graham Bird said before the change, that you can only receive PM's from people who you have accepted as friends, but people are not always what they seem at first, and some of us make friends extremely readily. Graham's view on this was that if you receive a message you don't like, you can "defriend" the sender. I would certainly do that, but some people would still feel intimidated by this, and also, it may be a sign that the sender has sinister intentions towards others. If the private messaging is taking place on the RSPB's systems, then you are still responsible for the content - so I trust that moderators can view PM's, if the need arises.

My view also - it seems to be the practice on other forums.

    Hi SueC

Well said from yourself,  and I feel that that all areas of the fourm should have a report abuse button to protect members.

Sadly PM systems are abused on Forums and that is part of life rich tapestry.... sadly

Well so was the comments system that we used to have. The difference now is that general public can't see messages on Community members profiles.

I for one quite like that as it seems much more secure because we all now know that no personal information can be given away by someone else posting something on your profile page.

    Best wishes Chris

    Hi Chris

I can see where you are are coming form here, and appreciate what you are saying too....PM's are secure in one way ,... and an ongoing hinderance in other ways form my own experiencies of forums over the past 5 years.

The thing is with Private PM's is that they can 'add'  to the existing problems, no matter what a normal, honest person like myself would do.

All i want is to steer clear of any issues as that is my soul intention on here forever and after.

I have health issues such as 'lifetime depression' which needs to be considered.  If cruel people aggreviate the issue, I am not the person who has to to take the biscuit for the problem in the first place...I simply want the whole issue to go away forever....I do not need any of it...I have my 'true' friends, my hobbies, {including birds},my life, and the RSPB in that order...simple as that

    Regards
