Squish List

Ladies and Gentlemen (and anything inbetween)

We have many posts with issues post upgrade, can we use this thread to collect them, more chance of getting things changed.

My biggest gripe, is the default resolution, the css frame is too large for the content (although very pretty)

Temp work around use the view function of your browser ( crtl and + will work on most desktop/laptops).

Mobile devices have their own way (usually a pinch on the touch screen).

It's both what you do and the way that you do it!

  • Hi- I keep seeing the words 'testing phase '  or similar, implying a dry run .  Any regulars out there been involved, or just geeks at the Lodge?

  • Where has the Wildlife in the Garden forum gone please

  • I don't use many forums + enjoyed being here + hearing everyones news. But boy am I finding this v time consuming to follow. I liked being nosey + knowing what you are all up too!! Now that is almost impossible to do easily.

Whilst being on a forum there are v few occasions that I really want to have 3/4 windows open to follow one forum!! A good suggestion but not always practical.

Like claire I asked DH to have a go, to find his way round the new set up. He uses quite a lot of other forums + described our new one as a 'dogs dinner'. He got quite frustrated as he opened numerous diff drop downs to get - anywhere!!

For me the simplicity + warmth has been lost in the guddle of trying to find 'anything'. As a yr long forum user is it not a bit daft that we need a map to find our way? Kat Tai thanks for it but I'm just feeling that it shouldn't really be necessary!! I was certainly more comfortable as a new user than I am today as a 'returnee' to the new look!! How are new members going to fair? Will they get a map sent to them to help? I know that if I'd looked at this a year ago, that would have been as far as I would have got :-(( !!

What I'd really like is an easily accessed page of 'new posts' on the 'chat' bar. So I can follow what folk are chatting, in Blogs, Gardening, Wildlife in the garden, Id's, etc. You see Ilove it all + can choose for myself what I wish to respond too. So when I'm on + I don't have to hunt about to see what is happening. With all contributing to the forum threads (lovely if it was 50+) that all moving, being listed, groups, all the diff forums etc, all together, with creater of the thread listed, thread name, nos of replys, nos of views, latest postee + forum posted in.

Have to say that if it as tricky, convoluted to follow I'm not sure if I will hav he time to find far less follow what is happening :-((

Personally I find all the stickies, which I feel there are too many off + the announcements some are dated 2009 + have no replies - well they shouldn't come up whither or not you have read them - new members won't have + they initially take up most of the page. Scrolling to the bottom of the page each time is a real pain in the - finger!!

I feel as if I'm being v neg  re the changes which like many I'd looked forward too, just not sure how they have really enhanced the site - although it is great to easily see blogs + group posts that area is much improved!!

On a diff nots altogether was wondering if I put iunfo about facebook, flicker etc is that info open to listed friends, forum members or the big wide web world? Don't wish to fill it in + have anyone privy to that sort of info.

    Hi osprey

When you're on the main default Community page (or in any of the forums even) you don't always have to have the 'all recent' thread button clicked, you can select those you haven't read by clicking 'unread' and that gets rid of some announcements and stickies you might have read in the past, or you can select 'unanswered' or 'your discussions' to reduce the number of announcements and stickies that you might have already read or not be interested in

    Best wishes Chris

  • Is anyone else confused as to why the Homes for Wildlife forum, which includes the much used Wildlife in the Garden and Nest Boxes threads, is in the "Get Involved"  group?

I associate "Get Involved" with things such as volunteering and other Get Involved with the RSPB matters. Surely Wildlife in the Garden and Nest Boxes should be in the Wildlife group?

I bet many of us miss things in there. I know I have.

Is it possible to move these over?

    Cheers, Linda.

  • I have just changed my profile heading slightly and find that that action is now in the Recent Activity list.  Does everyone need to know I have done that.  It does make you think twice before you update the profile in case it is something you don't need everyone to see.

  • Bob, that is the what the voice bit is for, so others can see what you're upto or have done. It would make no sense to be a private thing

  • Is it just me, or is it no longer possible to edit posts once they are made. I only usually edit stuff if i see spelling errors, but could not see how to do this when i made a typo in a thread title yesterday.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

    Hi Sarah

This is one of the problems that has been reported. It seems you can Edit (using the pencil) in most forums, except Chat
