Changing Avatar

Hi There

Love this new website, am just taking my time 'surfing' about....love it.

The only problem I have is being unable to upload photo/clip art to change my avatar. When I do try all I get is an empty pic box. What am I doing wrong???   Can you help...PLEASE?

Isn't 'our' Osprey family fantastic?  I have a good feeling about this year's chicks.

Kind regards and thanks

  • Hi Maureen,

You need to go to "my page" at the top of the screen, and then next to your avatar select the option to "edit profile", in this area where your picture is you have an option to "change avatar".  you can either select an RSPB avatar or upload your own..

  • Hi LLoyd

    Thanks for your answer.

Have done all that..... I am using RSPB avatar. The trouble is when I upload my own pic. I just get empty box !!

    Hi Maureen,

Hmm i think you'll need to double check what kind of file it is - JPeg or Gif would probably be the best. some files may be to large and so can't be uploaded properly... i think that'll be the reason.

  • Thank you again Lloyd

Will investigate and get back to you tomorrow.  How do I check what kind of file?.

Clipart  is one pic. I would like to use

    Family photo. is other choice.

  • Hi Maureen,

Yes, when you save the picture to "my pictures" you should be able to see what format their in. It should have a code at the end of the saved file which tells you the format type, when you pass the mouse cursor over the file it should say JPEG or such like.. hope that makes sense!

  • As above, look at your picture where saved in My Pictures and look at ending.  It must be .jpg or .gif.  If it is not, open the picture into an image editor, Paint will do.  Edit it to the shape you want and do File, Save As.  You will get the option Save As Type.  Select JPEG or GIF.  This will reduce the quality of the image, but should be fine for an avatar.

  • Hi everyone,

I have written a short guide on changing your avatar. Hope it helps.
