This has only been heard for the last 2 days, I've searched to find it but to no avail, I've never heard it before.
Can't be certain but it may not be a bird but possibly a Grey Squirrel. They make rasping calls. Have a listen to the clip below.

I agree with TeeJay, that's definitely a squirrel. It confused me when I first heard one!
Possibly explain why I've never heard a bird noise like it before..we do have a resident grey squirrel but I've never heard it before only seen it.... Thanks..
