Where are we all going today?

Hi Folks

I was thinking today about an idea for a Forum (ifs it already been done I'm sorry).

How about a forum where you can post the place you are going to visit that day and why, this might encourage others to travel somewhere they have not been too before. It could also be a good way of meeting up with other members from here at certain reserves locations etc. I have often walked around reserves and seen other RSPB members (recognised by the coloured tags) walking around and have wondered do they come in here too?

This could be a good way for several to meet at the same place and same time and share our love for nature and in some cases your expertise (lacking here) with each other and making friends in the flesh not just on line.

Good Idea or not?

Regards

Where's the hide in Forest Farm (we are talking Forest Farm - Jct 32 M4 right?).

Or do you take your own little tent hide?

    Ant

If you park all the way down by BT just off the mini roundabiut and go in that way ,you go into the reserve with a smal canal on your right with a gate in front go throught the gate and the first hide is about 50 metres away. then theres another about 200 metres past there.

The kingfisher was showing well on the second hide and a little egret dropped down and straight bacj up. Had my best Nuthatch pics there yesterday, and my coal tit pics are to die for ha ha

If you go to the forest farm website theres a full map and layout there

When I have visited RSPB reserves, I've never been given a tag to show I'm a member. I usually have to put my membership card in the car for any parking concessions but that's about it.

    Best wishes Chris

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!

  • Hi Chris

I can see why S questioned this now, maybe not all reserves do this? Pulborough Brooks, Dungeness, Rainham Marshes all do this, obviously the smaller reverves without visitor centres do not.

    Hi,

my RSPB volunteer buddies wear RSPB armbands ( I used to wear similar as a vol in the 70s) - but it looks a bit like a crazed blood pressure operative has run amok!!
