Hi guys. I'm after some help.

I moved house about 5 months ago now and each night my children and i are woken up by the strangest noise that we can only assume is a bird of some sort.

It is a very high pitched distinctive noise that sounds like a monkey or a witch laughing! Its very strange and we would live to know what kind of bird it is, if its a bird at all... We are very intreged.

I have managed to record the sound for longer than i was able to last time i tried. You can hear birds in the background but you'll know which i mean

Can you help?

I am no expert but wonder if it could be a garden warbler, alarm calling..

Sounds a bit like a duck of some sort. Does anyone in the vicinity keep domestic ducks? The fact that you are hearing it so consistently and in the same location would imply that it may not be a wild bird/animal. Just a guess I'm afraid.

Hi Tony.

Im unsure as to whether neighbours have ducks. We do like by the Ship Canal so maybe a possibility i guess

No, not that i can work out. I feel it comes from the roof area hence why i feel its a bird

Hi Toby,

Yes more often that not. I really dont feel that it is a fox as it seems to come from upon the roofs. I also feel a fox would wonder about and not just sit making the dame noise. Its so strange
