I have been driving past a single buzzard sitting in the same place, more or less, in a winter wheat planted field about 30 / 75 m from the road.
I'm a bit puzzled as to what it's up to - to be sitting in the same place over a 5/6 week period at least. Other buzzards join it on occasion. I've counted a mximum of four.
Of course it could be a series of different buzzards?
One rather fanciful friend reckoned it was waiting for eels to go past.
Do juvenile buzzards hang around on the ground for any reason?
Very curious about such a persistent habit - Anyone seen this before?
We have seen Buzzards on motorway verges occasionally, presumably hunting for worms.
Kind regards, Ann
There is a field next to the a303 on the blackdown hills which we pass regularly. There is always half a dozen buzzards in that field. Its not freshly ploughed, but there is something they love there
