Do you live in an area where Natterjack Toads occur? They spawn in usually temporary pools that form in the valleys or 'slacks' in sand dune systems, so I'd have thought pretty unlikely they'd visit a garden pond. Common Toad much more likely and its spawn is in chain form - here's a link to a pic: http://www.viridis.net/animals/images/IMG_2209a.jpg

Hi aiki
l live in a valley with fields at the bottom of my pond and woodland around the hills and fields, l have gravel and sand round the pond and l'm very lucky to live in a area under OSNB so would the tadpoles look any different from normal ones when hatched? do you think? and gold spicks.
Not heard of OSNB... But Natterjacks have a very restricted UK distribution. There are only about 50 colonies in the UK, most in coastal dune systems, the others on sandy heathland. Common Toads are found nearly everywhere though. Toad tadpoles ('toadpoles') are blacker than Common Frog tadpoles.
hi l feel daft now l mean't to say l live in area of out standing natural beauty. yes your probly right l would need to live near the sea. Thanks for info Yazzy
