Bird feeders

We have lots of bird feeders (fat balls, nuts, seeds) squirrel nut boxes and bird nesting boxes. Very large garden but suddenly we seem to be plagued by rats! Our neighbour keeps horses, chickens, sheep, pigs, ducks and geese. They tell us our bird seed feeders are attracting the rats so we have stopped putting them out. Just put out nuts and fat balls now. Does anyone think this is the bird seed problem.

    I think so, last week I watched a large rat climb the trees in my garden to dangle off two nut and seed feeders. Had to move them to a metal pole type hanger. Also the daughter had the wooden upright to a bird-house type feeder completely chewed through in one night.
