Although my peanut feeder is proving popular, the birds must only be taking tiny amounts as the level of peanuts hasn't yet visibly diminished. How long can I keep the peanuts in there before they go bad and need replacing?
Also, I just read on another site that you should move feeders regularly to avoid a buildup of bird droppings in one place - is this the case? I am limited as to the number of places I can put mine!

I use a food processors, If you have an Aldi near you I saw they was selling a small one in there fo £15.00
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
lol Kezmo
Pulse your processor rather than letting it turn them to flour
Anything designed to grind coffee beans will do the job. Don't forget, you don't need to do too many at a time as even a small amount of ground peanuts will feed quite a few birds.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Squirrel, you know that's a really good idea! I have a coffee grinder and never thought about using it for peanuts! I used my blender and no matter what setting it was on, it ground the whole lot too fine for the birds.
Oh dear OH will not be pleased - his freshly ground coffee in he morning may now have a nutty twist!

Hi everyone thats so funny.
Ive been using a pestle and morter, and then using a magazine to waft all the brown skins out of the granules, I didn't know if you should remove them or not so thought best be on the safe side and get rid of them LOL I'm being daft again aren't I, it makes a hell of a mess though they go everywhere. I'd never thought of buying granules, good idea.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
