hi guys
anyone know of a fast growing tree or big bush.
thanks
Hi
yeah,
Leylandiis, but you don't want them, they can get over 30ft tall.
what is it for?
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Both Poplar and Willows are known to be fast growing tree species and are also benefical for wildlife.
Poplars are popular (see what I did there!) with a huge variety of butterfly and moth species and flower very early on before the leaves are even fully established. Willows (goat willow particularly) are also early bloomers and also attract pollinators, the leaves are readily eaten by caterpillars which in turn will attract lots of birds to your garden!
I've attached our information leaflet "Planting garden for birds" which should be helpful and lists various suitable trees and shrubs!
Also, if you've not yet seen this, why not sign up to RSPB Homes for Wildlife - this gives you free taylored advice on how to best manage your garden to benefit all wildlife species.
Buddleia (the butterfly bush) is very fast growing, and it's not known as the butterfly bush for nothing!
An egret changed my life!
