I had two arrive on Saturday.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi Squirrel,
This is really good news for you - along with Mrs Pied. What are your green finches eating, and where?
Cheers, Linda.

Hi pauwen,
What numbers of Greenfinches were you getting, to what you are now getting?
What is your surrounding habitat and are you rural or urban.
Although the majority of Greenfinches are resident some birds do migrate to continental Europe, so the birds that you see in your garden in Summer may not be the same as those in Winter. A lot of wintering Greenfinches arrive from Norway, some will stay and other will return back to Norway or other scandinavian countries.
Again the weather and food playing its part on the birds movements.
Localised migration can also occur as migration doesn't necessarily mean leaving this country.
You can have birds moving from the north to south, east to west. Urban to rural and vice versa etc.
I seen good numbers, but again it is all down to location and food.
Hope this helps Regards Buzzard

Hi Sparrow, to date I haven't managed to catch them eating anything from the feeders or tables but they are spending a lot of time in the buddleia so I assume they are eating either seeds or insects which are on it. I will keep watching though and let you know what they go for - if they ever do (it's a big buddleia!).
Thank you Squirrel. Maybe you could try putting a feeder in your buddleia!
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
We always seem to have greenfinches and they eat sunflower hearts.
I always have Greenfinches here too, there are always about 12 feeding at one time (they eat the sunflower hearts) and there are other queuing up, waiting their turn !!!
Does anyone know why they squabble so ?
The Goldfinches don't do it, they seem so laid back in comparison ! (they prefer the sunflower hearts to the Niger seed)
