This morning we found a dead wren on the kitchen window sill (inside).
How did that happen? Has anybody else had one get into the house without the help of a feline friend or open window/door?
Aww, what a shame :o(
It hasn't got through a hole or open window has it? Could have gotten in looking for food or shelter?
Chimney?
We often get birds (usually young starlings in the house this way).

Poor thing.
This is the second thread today about a dead wren.
Cheers, Linda.

No chimney.
The only thing I can think of is the vent in the wall for the tumble dryer.
I am just so sorry we didn't find it whilst it was alive. I love seeing wrens in the garden, they are always so cheeky.
My story is happier. We have a wren, who seems to have taken over our porch. Now has his own supply of seed and water and allows us to go in and out. We do keep check though, that he doesn't walk into the house as we could easily miss him.
Hi Brenda
Love your story about your Wren. Love it. Love to see a picture if you have it?
I have to say it is never impossible for birds to get into places that they should not in a house or otherwise.
There have been 2 occasions where Starlings have fallen down chimneys (one survived, and one did not) Blackbirds have got through the patio doors, and into the conservatory etc. One got into our front room once, and left a few presents on our settee
They get stressed so easily when confined anywhere. Poor things
If one is on the loose in the house, I find using a towel is the best way of grabbing them to put them outside once more.
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Sounds possible, was probably looking for somewhere warm to roost, I understand they will make winter roosts in places such as tit nest boxes, often multiple birds have been found in a single box.
Probably trying to get out of the window but stunned itself on the glass.
They are so tiny, and very suseptible to harsh weather.
