I have a thrush visiting my garden, it has missling feathers in its breast and rump. I'm slightly concerned it may have a mite or something which will then get passed on to other feeders. Is there a more simple explaination?
How long have the feathers been missing? If they've only recently gone, it could have been caused by an argument with another bird, or by being caught by a cat or sparrowhawk.
A closed mouth gathers no foot.
