We now have 4 Fieldfares in the garden - squabbling over a few remaining berries on an unidentified shrub. Haven't seen one for many years. Is this unusual?
Hello neophyte, as you will see on other threads, fieldfares are being seen in many gardens all over the country at the moment. Pleased you have seen yours.
Hello neophyte,
Welcome to the forums, there are alot of sitings recently in many gerdens if you want to keep them coming to feed put out plenty of fruits eg, plums , apples,bananas and such like , cut them small as they tend to take larger pieces away with them then come back for more ;). This will also encorage blackbirds to feed . Hope this helps.
Neil

Hi all, new to the site........I live in a built up area of North London and in the last 3 days have seen a group of about 20 sitting in some Crab Apple Trees next to our local Church. Have done some homework and this seems quite rare but as has been said before it's proberly all done to the cold and snow. Got a nice pic of this colourful bird, a nice treat.
Lee.
{sorry Sparrow}
I have just seen one Fieldfare in my garden this morning.
This one was going through the leave litter
Never had one in any of my garden(s) area before so very pleased to have had one.
I wish the bird was not so far away so I could take a picture {big smile}
Regards
Kathy and Dave
envy those of you with flocks of fieldfares, we have two fighting horribly over more windfalls than they can ever eat! can't imagime them to ever share enough to flock. after one nasty bout, one appeared to be dead, lying spread on the snow. it was shamming for a few minutes then stood up and wandered off. i suppose this is submissive behaviour, has any one else seen this? is it normal?
