Hi everyone! My garden is absolutley full to the brim with various thrushes at the moment, and I was delighted to spot this guy today:
I've never seen a Fieldfare before, and thought they were rather unusual this far south (I live in South Wales, right on the Swansea coast.) Is the cold weather pushing them over this way? Swansea seems to be one of the few places in the UK to hardly have any snow, and I've noticed a lot more birds around here recently!
That is a brilliant photo! They do seem to be making an appearance in many gardens this winter - even down as far as the Isle of Wight so I think you can expect to see a few more over the next week or so.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
That is a nice photo! Well done.
Regards Buzzard

Hello PeregrineRhi, just love your photograph. It is so unusual to see a photograph with so little snow recently.
Thanks everyone! yes its really strange, drive a few miles up the road and it's like a different world! If you look closely at the Fieldfare's beak, it's got a little bit of snow on it! Just saw at least 4 other Fieldfares hanging around on a small patch of grass near my house with some Redwwings. Seems like the weather really is pushing them south.
Congrats to you Peregrine, nice photo there, i had my first Feildfare in the garden this year and i never have seen one before ! I'm up in the midlands, so it seems there are everywhere this winter !!
