Hello folks, we have been trying for a while now to source plans for an octagonal or hexagonal pole mounted dovecot on the net for a while now without success. Have found plenty of photos and companies willing to sell them. We want to build our own. Why is it that any amount of nest box plans are readily available on websites but we just cannot find one for a dovecot? I see that other people are having the same problem too, is it a closed society!!!? If any of you have a set of plans that you can put into pdf format and e-mail it on that would be great, thanks in advance.
There's some info and plans on this website: www.thedovecotespot.com/index.htm. Dovecotes are for domestic pigeons, which I guess is why you won't find plans for them in the same places that have plans for wild bird nestboxes.

Hello Alan, thanks for taking the time to respond. Unfortunately, Deanbirders was one of the first ones that i found and everything is for sale. Maybe we will just have to bite the bullet and buy the plans! Or else try make our own and make a pigs ear of it! What i am looking for are dimensions and a cutting list.
ahh now that would make sense. had a good look through that website you suggested, had not found that one in my searches - thanks. Left a message on the forum so hopefully something will come out of it.
Hello, last message was for aiki. Thanks to Alan, will check that site out now.
Cheers
Tom
Here's a plan for a post-mounted cote from the Dovecote Spot site (well, I think that's what it is, I don't know anything much about woodworking though so maybe it isn't what you're after!): www.thedovecotespot.com/page28.htm

Hi You can find plans for an octagonal pole mounted dovecot on:
http://dovecoteplans.com/
I have purchased these plans previously and found them very good and quite adaptable if you wanted to make slightly different designs. The dovecot is typical with 4 rooms and 2 floors and fairly large when finished.
I believe there are also a range of wood working templates and fairly cheap too.
Hope this helps
