i saw a disturbing scene with male mallards yesterday and was wondering if this is normal?
we were on the canal in Devon one evening and 3 male ducks set upon another male drowning him by holding his head under the water.
They then turned on another duck but were scared off.
should you ever intervene?
looking forward to hearing other people's thoughts on this..

One last reply. I noticed that we both say this behaviour I'm the same week Albeit years apart. Male ducks are protective over females so like other biological males it's probably fighting due to mating. Although I never realised they would be this crazy
