We have a very scary Robin in our garden and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what we could do about him..
He has scared away ALL of our other garden birds. He parades round the platform on our RSPB bird feeder 'daring' other birds to come near. If they do he lunges at them and chases them all the way down the garden. He sometimes sits on the bird bath too and stops other birds taking a drink. Even next door's cat runs away..!!
I know Robins are territorial but if anyone has advice on how to deal with this little character (bar shooting him) I would be so grateful to hear from you.

Hello CarolHe certainly seems like a frightening wee character. I've seen robins acting aggresively to other robins but never different bird species. Not sure what you should do about his behaviour but something that might be worth a try is moving the feeders. There's a possibility that other birds may find the newly positioned feeders before the mad robin.Paul
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Hi Carol
Welcome to the forum hope you enjoy it here.
On another thread, I've read abut robin behaviour and how they are really territorial - perlease somebody do what I can't do and insert the necessary thread - MarJus what about your one i.e. fighting robins?
I have two robins, one is normal size and the other is slightly bigger but they don't fight at all. One favours one feeder, with perches, and the other favours a hanging free for all - admittedly he is slightly larger so the feeder with perches he finds difficult because of his fat body. I've not seen the pair of them fight at all but then again I've not seen them in the garden at the same time.
I don't think your robin's behaviour is unusual in fact I think it is quite common and the characteristic of being obsessive with the feeders against other birds is also the case.

Kerry

Hi and welcome to the forum. This earlier thread may be the one Kezmo is thinking of. The Rogue was very like yours. hope it helps.
'Rogue' Robin!
John :-)
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Thanks John! when you get a minute will you tell me how to do that?

Thank you for your replies and advice re my 'Psycho Robin'..
Nuthatch's Robin story was most entertaining too... liked the tapping on the window bit...
I will put an extra feeder at the opposite side of the garden and see what happens. Perhaps as time goes by the wee fellow will calm down.
This is a great forum.
