However I have notice the Jays burying acorns as if there is no tomorrow,Do they no something about the
weather that we dont?Has anyone else notice this?
Hi Waxwing - hadn't thought about it until now but they have been extremely active here in our village the last few days normally hard to spot they have been back and for the constantly the last few days and squabbling a lot maybe these too are getting in a winter stash.
Hi waxwing
We have jays that visit regularly in our garden - they take the monkey nuts I put out for the squirrel. Funnily enough though I have seen them only twice in the garden for the last month. I assumed food elsewhere was keeping them satisfied. We took a walk to the backwaters at the weekend and there were acorns strewn all over the place laying untouched.
Regards
Kerry

Kezmo, as you say we haven't seen Jays in the garden and there seem to be acorns galore on the ground. Even the squirrels are not burying any nuts in the lawn yet but then the squirrels never seem to remember where they bury them !

Hi Brenda H
Are you getting the same thing? I have so many peanut plants growing around he garden I keep picking them out, barring one which I have left to see how it grows. My OH had an old pair of trainers he left outside under the overhang by the back door because they were so muddy and found one nut in each trainer! Saying that though, they haven't been about much lately either !!
I will keep watching to see what they are doing during the next few weeks, and I will keep you all posted, it is interesting to watch.
