I brought in gladioli from the garden and the next morning a spider had made a web from the flowers to the table. I left it but next morning the spider had moved and the web had gone. Later that day i noticed the spider had made another web across my window but once again next morning the same thing had happened. Do spiders normally tidy up after themselves or have i just got a very houseproud spider?

Assuming this was an orb web weaver such as the Garden Spider Araneus diadematus, yes, many individuals will spin a new web almost every night. Rather than waste the protein in the silk they dissolve the silk and reabsorb it, i.e. they effectively eat their own web before spinning a new one!
