I heard an unusual bird noise in my garden, coming from the neighbours. I recorded it on my ‘picture bird app’ and it said red bellied woodpecker. Then it said native to US and Canada. Is it unusual in the UK?

As said Red-bellied Woodpecker is a native of North America. It's probably a Great Spotted Woodpecker you saw. Can you post the photo so we can confirm the ID.
