Hi all, my dad found a nest inside a screener at the quarry, thank goodness he did before they started work on it. No parents to be seen for a few hours, he brought then home.
I have 3 birds that I've raised from nestling, they are up and about these days running about and trying to use their wings but no tail feathers yet.
Does anyone here know what they are? I did think sparrows at first but now not so sure.
They are dark brown almost black on top, flecks of dark yellow. And they have yellow bellies and chest. All yellow when they gape. Pale pink legs
Should have just left it be.
Leave them inside the machine to be crushed to death? I'll be sure to tell him next time. Thank you for your reply
That must have been a labour of love with all the hard work involved in raising these chicks ... sorry I can't help with ID but am sure there'll be others who may ... good luck and hope they can fledge successfully!

I wonder if they are Robins - good luck - not an easy job

Robins.
It really is, loved having them despite the lack of sleep. Thank you for your kind comment.
I started thinking they were Robins today but thought no way. Thank you guys, can't wait to see future growth in these little guys.
It a starling, female I do believe, how lovely of you, it's nice to know others help our wildlife too, as they all have important roles to play in keeping our planet going.. and need a helping hand sometimes.
They are supposed to leave it be if there is an active nest there - they obviously hadn't needed the machinery for the several weeks it took to build the nest and, lay their eggs and for the chicks to hatch. Poor maintenance.

No it isn't and once I've replied to this post and the next one, I'll use it as an example of nonsense that gets posted on here, putting people off using the site, and take another break from it.
