We had a pigeon nest with 2 eggs in a bush near our front door. The pigeons have been sitting on the eggs for last 16/17 days. This morning, the nest is empty, no sign of babies or pigeons. It is a mystery to us. There was a little piece of down at the side of nest. What could have happened?
It sounds very likely that the nest has been predated ... the eggs must have hatched after being incubated for 16/17 days, maybe the young were taken and parents deserted the site ... very sad but predator birds are feeding young too!
