Razorbills at RSPB Rathlin Island, Northern Ireland

We visited Rathlin Island in Northern Ireland today (wow!) and observed a lot of adult Razorbills perched on ledges and flying back and forth. We weren’t able to spot any chicks through our binos, however. Meanwhile, on the top of the neighboring stack, we could see Common Murre “jumplings” popping up and down, flapping their wings and apparently getting ready to jump into the sea. Where were the Razorbill chicks, then? Did we just not look hard enough for them? Had they already left their nests and gone out on their own in the waves? We’d love to get some insights into what‘a going on with Razorbills at this time of year.
