Hi all,
bit of a conundrum, I saw a small bird (possibly chaffinch, some sort of tit, or robin) fly out of my well, only to discover it's nested in the wall.
I assume whichever species it is, the chicks will end up drowning when they fledge.
I imagine going down on a ladder and putting a board across may cause the parent's to abandon, and I guess moving the nest elsewhere is also out of the question.
Do I let nature take it's course?
Hi Oats, they do build their nests in some odd places. I know you want to help by thinking of putting down a board to cover the water, but it will disturb the parents, and the nest would most likely be abandoned. Hopefully, when the chicks leave the nest, they will land on the side stones or fly up, let nature take its course.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
