Wag tails nest

My Son was clearing a corner of the garden that has been left untouched for a lot of years. He disturbed a wag tails nest and there are four eggs in the nest. The mother doesn't seem to be around now. What should we do

  • Too late to do anything now. If the nest is exposed, that's end of nest. They can sometimes be easily found by predators even if not disturbed.
  • p.s. it is of course possible, the nest had already been abandoned. e.g. a parent predated. That is more likely if during that gardening, no parent was around at any time. As I am sure you know, and your son now knows, always best to check for nests before and during any heavy duty gardening, esp between about March-June, and ideally heavy duty clearing should be done outside of those months.
