Over the last two weeks we have had close to 100 crows gathering and roosting in two trees near to our home. They wake around 6.30am and disappear for the day then return each evening between 6.30pm and 7pm. Is this normal behaviour for crows at this time of year.
I agree with what Robbo is saying on this gathering like this sounds more like the behaviour of Rooks or Jackdaws. We have recently have been doing counts of our local Corvid roosts and the picture described here seems to match what we are getting locally Rooks and Crows can easily mis identified although Jackdaws less so but both species are very noisy and nest and roost communally. Rooks have a bigger dagger shaped bill than crows and grey facial masks to help i.d.
