MALLARD ON CLUTCH OF EGGS IN [FAIRLY] URBAN FRONT GARDEN

This weekend we noticed some duck eggs in a nest made in an area that is covered in bark chippings in our front garden, close to the path, but behind iron railings so there is some protection, but already public interest. The female is sitting on the eggs through the day and away at night. We are two roads [one main] and a boatyard away from a saltwater river in the middle of a small town, but we have no pond and there are none that the new family could access easily from our garden, should they survive the local foxes and gulls that nest on our roof each year.

We're wondering what to do next! Any ideas?
