I was recently repeatedly dived at by an adult buzzard whilst out running. I suspect that it must have a nest and was trying to scare me off. Can anyone advise how long they will have youngsters in the nest and should avoid this area for? I've never had any issues with running this route before
Would guess the young birds leave nest probably early August, would think attacks would then stop.
Hello there,
According to www.bbc.co.uk/nature - the Common Buzzard female lays from late March to May. Both sexes incubate the eggs for about 34 days. The chicks fledge after about 40 - 45 days but do not become independent for a further 6 - 8 weeks.
