A birdbox that we had in a tree fell in the winter and we put it on top of our oil tank for replacing. We then forgot to replace it and it has a nest in it with chicks despite the box being only 5 feet from the ground. Should we move it?

Hi Mysty
If birds have started nesting in there then the nest is protected by law and it should be left until the nesting season is over and the chicks have fledged from the nest. In autumn, it is best to clean the nest box and re-site it in a more suitable place i.e. 2 – 4 meters up a tree or a wall facing between North and East.
Kind Regards
Tom
