Hi, although I've spent many an enjoyable hour reading the posts on this forum, this is the first time I've tried myself so hope I do it properly! My problem is with pigeons and not only with them eating all my birdfood (pesky blighters!). I have a vetable plot in my garden and at first I thought it was slugs that were destroying my cabbages and other brassicas so put down slug pellets but it's not. It's the pigeons. They totally strip the leaves. I've grown vegetables often before but have never had a problem with pigeons eat ing them until now. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Patann
Welcome to the forum Bird Woman! Are these wood pigeons or feral? Anyway, I think that one solution could be to hang old CD's around to blow about; a cat statue may help too. Some sites recommend the use of netting but I'd be reluctant to use this as smaller birds may get caught up in it.
Here's a link to the RSPB's advice: http://www.rspb.org.uk/advice/gardening/unwantedvisitors/index.asp#
Good luck!

Thanks MarJus.I too didn't want to use netting. Will certainly give the cds a try. Bit worried about using cat statue in case it scares away small birds. Have both feral and woodpigeons. How I dislike them! I keep chasing them away so they're probably doing it to annoy me!
