I have a nest full of abandoned Great Tits ; does anyone know a rescue centre near to Gateshead who would be able to hand rear them ???? Thank you Mel
Firstly, are you sure they've been abandoned? Something would have had to have happened to both parents for them not to come back to the nest - depending on the stage they are at, it could be a few hours in between feeds - the very worst thing you could do would be to take these birds anywhere if the parents are still alive.
If you are 100% certain these fledglings are orphans, then you could try to contact the Animal Sanctuary, based in Throckley on 0191 264 2930 to ask if they would be willing to help or advise you.
