we had this bird nesting in a tree it had what looked like a white beak black face wide white collar,black neck.wings olive green half way down then black but with 6 white spots and 2 on its tail .we have soom photos of the birds .alas a magpie raided the nest destroying the eggs and eating 2 small chicks the birds have left. from sammie.

Welcome to the forum. A photo would sure help with the ID. When you make a post, click on the little green filmstrip icon, then browse to locate the picture on your computer and then insert.
You don't say what size the bird was. If it was small, say robin size, then my guess is that it could be a pied flycatcher. They don't have white beaks but they do have a white patch just above the bill which might give that impression. Although the males are usually black and white some of them are a greyish brown as are the females.
